Which Canadian grocery stores price match in 2026?

No retailer publishes this comparison — so we did. Every claim below is checked against the banner's own policy and dated. Tap any store for the full policy, the fine print, and how to actually get the match at the till.

The finding

Only 2 of 5 of these banners still price match.

FreshCo and No Frills will match a competitor's flyer — and even they hedge it (read the fine print below). The rest — Food Basics, Metro, Sobeys — don't offer a standard price match at all.

Food Basics
Metro Inc.
No price matchNot applicable — Food Basics runs no price-match program, so it names no competitors to match. (Discount rivals No Frills and FreshCo instead name Food Basics as a competitor they will match against.)Not applicable — cashiers do not accept competitor flyers for a price match. There is no price-match program to carry exclusions. Food Basics' own savings are its weekly flyer, private labels (Irresistibles, Selection), a Tuesday student discount, and rainchecks (10% off when an advertised item is out of stock) — none of which is a competitor price match.July 25, 2026
