Does No Frills price match?
The policy, plainly
Show a No Frills cashier a major supermarket competitor's current flyer (print or digital) for an identical item and they'll match that lower price before it's scanned. Despite the "Won't Be Beat®" branding, the program matches the competitor's price — it doesn't undercut it — and No Frills decides which competitors, trade areas and "comparable items" count "solely at our discretion."
The fine print they bury
- What counts as a competitor
- A "Major Supermarket Competitor" listed for your local store's geographic trade area; the list varies by store and is set at No Frills' discretion. The item must be identical (same brand, type, size and measurement) or a comparable private-label item.
- Proof you need
- Yes — the competitor's complete current ad (digital or print flyer) with valid dates, shown before the item is scanned.
- "Spend X Get X", "Free", and email/online-exclusive offers
- Loyalty-program discounts, including PC Optimum Member Pricing
- Gas stations, pharmacy/prescriptions, and third-party Meat/Seafood/BBQ/Bakery counters
- Marketplace items sold and shipped by third-party sellers
- Capped at 4 per item; no rainchecks; incomplete ads (missing size or date) are rejected
How to price match at No Frills
- 01Find an identical item advertised cheaper in a major supermarket competitor's current, unexpired flyer (digital or print) — one listed for your local store.
- 02Locate the exact same item in your No Frills — same brand, type, size and measurement.
- 03At a staffed cash (not self-checkout), show the cashier the complete ad with valid dates before they scan the item; they verify it and match the price.
No Frills and FreshCo are the only two banners here that still match a competitor's price. No Frills matches to the exact price (FreshCo goes 1¢ lower), but it excludes its own PC Optimum member pricing from what you're allowed to match against.
